A big welcome back to all our families, we hope that you had a lovely Christmas and new year and that Santa was kind and generous to you !!!! This time of year is an exciting but also a sad time of the year. We prepare to say goodbye to many families as their children move onto the next stage—Kindy and Pre-primary. We also get to welcome new families and support existing children to move to their new rooms. We look forward to another great year at Mundarda.
As you can see some changes are happening at the moment, we were lucky to receive a grant from Lotterywest just before the end of the year, with that we are getting new turf and soft fall installed, outdoor blinds for the verandas, security cameras, garden beds in toddlers and Kindy, extending the Nursery outdoor play space and the office revamp.
Our community garden has been kindly donated and built by Bunnings Armadale, we are hoping to get planting soon and create out sustainable community garden.
We would like to welcome our new staff members that have joined us at Mundarda:
Gabby is our new educational teacher in the Kindy:
Hi, I’m Gabby. I’ve worked in child care for over 6 years and am now here at Mundarda to continue on my journey. I graduated from Murdoch University almost 3 years ago, specialising in Early Childhood Education. I’ve recently purchased my first home locally and look forward to becoming a part of the Mundarda community. I truly believe my passion for nature play and learning through real life experience will flourish during my time at Mundarda as the kindy children and my team begin our learning journey together.
Pippa is the new assistant in the Kindy room My name is Pippa and I am currently obtaining my certificate III in Children’s services, with the possibility of going on to do my diploma. My goal is to work within the childcare setting, but more closely with those children who are “ special needs”. I am a wife and a mother to two incredible little humans, Phoenix and Willow, who also attend the centre. I am looking forward to learning and growing with your children throughout the years.
Raquel is the new assistant in the schoolies. My name is Raquel and I am from Venezuela. I have been married for 19 years and I have 3 daughters, 2 dogs and 1 cat. I am very passionate about nature and animals, that is why I started a new journey being a vegan. During my spare time I practice Hot yoga, meditation and I go to the gym. I also enjoy going to the movies and I am a big coffee lover. I have a crazy obsession with looking at the sky, I love to watch the moon and I always think about how beautiful the universe is. I moved back to Perth from the U.S a year and half ago, in America I was working with children for 4 years. I love working with children because I believe they are the ones who are going to make an impact in the world. That’s why I am very focused with them about “love & care with nature, animals and people”. We cant go wrong if we really believe in this philosophy. I am one of those people who always want to save the planet. This year I am so excited to be part of the team and I thank you all for your support.
Sadly we had to say farewell to Rozhiah who had to go and work in a regional centre due to her visa requirement, we are looking forward to her returning to mundarda in the future.
We are very sad to say farewell to Nat from schoolies , Nat has decided to leave us, she is looking at the possibility of a new career change, Nat will be greatly missed by all but especially by the schoolies. We wish her well in her new adventure.
As part of our community initiative we have introduced the fruit basket, this is for children to take a piece of fruit as they leave the centre and enjoy. We have also introduced our community basket, this is located near the sign in folders in the foyer, families are able to donate and/or take items as they wish, we are hoping that families start taking advantage of this. Under the sign in folders in the foyer is a basket of books, this is books that children may take home to read by themselves or with families, we encourage children to choose a book and when they have finished with it, bring it back.
Children’s health and wellbeing
Please remember that Mundarda is a sun smart centre. We ask that children come to day care dressed appropriately. This means no singlets or spaghetti straps! Remember if you are bringing your child in after 9.am we would appreciate if you could put sunscreen on your children before as they need to have it applied 20 minutes before going out. Thank you for your understanding.
