Activities
The kindy are encouraged to enjoy indoor/outdoor play and have free flow between these areas during the majority of the day. Selfcare and help skills are promoted throughout the flexible routine. We encourage and support school transitions and readiness as the children become confident in their identities and abilities. A lot of these skills are learnt through various activities, and are tailored to individual learning through the programming cycle carried out by the Early Childhood Teacher alongside the kindy team. The kindy children explore many activities, spontaneous experiences, intentional teaching and planned opportunities to aid in their development. We encourage all learning through play and authentic opportunities that arise naturally. Kindy activities are often interest based and taken from the children’s needs and strengths.
Some of the favourite activities include: dramatic play- role playing and dressing up, messy experiences, cooking, climbing, mud kitchen and craft activities such as painting and gluing. We love to make things from recycled items and learn about recycling. We have monitors in our room that helps us take ownership and develop leadership skills in reducing our environmental footprint at care.
